Just a few years ago, drafting a quarterback in the first round was common practice. Now, getting Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and even Matthew Stafford early in drafts is common practice. It’s a passing league, so quarterbacks should have the most value, right?
Not so fast. If the NFL is a passing league (it is) that means that more quarterbacks throw more often. That would make the quarterback position even less valuable, meaning that there is a surplus of starting quarterbacks. The late round quarterback, or punting quarterback, is a story for another day.
If you are reading this, chances are you do not have Manning, Rodgers, Brees or some other top quarterback. And that means you waited for Tony Romo, Andy Dalton or Carson Palmer. That also means you are in line to possibly stream quarterbacks this season. This series of articles, titled “Streaming the Passer,” will detail which quarterbacks to stream for any given week. Be sure to keep an eye on this post each week if you are one of the few who chose to stream a quarterback, as this column will present facts and suggestions for your streaming convenience.
