5 most overrated fantasy QBs

Quarterbacks are arguably the most divisive position when it comes to the fantasy football community. Do you play it safe with an Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck by taking one early? Or do you wait, and hope to grab a top-five talent in the later rounds?

The “wait on a quarterback” strategy has paid off for many fantasy owners, but it takes great discipline to wait on a quarterback. Their name, after all, is typically the first displayed when someone looks at your roster. An impressive name atop the roster makes your team look better.

If you can’t wait, you might over-reach for a quarterback that’s being overvalued. This article is not about whether or not you are better off taking Aaron Rodgers in the second round or Tony Romo in the seventh. Instead, we want to know: Which quarterbacks are the most overrated heading into the 2015 fantasy football season?

So Brees is the guy? I’m not wasting a first or second round pick on a QB. Plus Russell Wilson is on a run heavy team.

    • Tyler Loechner

Brees not a bad one. Wilson is on a run-heavy team, yes, but he’s also part of that. His legs score a lot of fantasy points.

They were also QB’s 4 (Peyton), 7 (Ryan), 9 (Brady), and 10 (Eli). The only good arguments here are Peyton declining and Brady being affected by the suspension. Stafford is definitely overrated, but the rest of this seems kind of irrelevant..

I think that it would be a little more helpful if you analyzed these in regard to impact on final rosters. For example, taking overrated (-2) Stafford in the 14th round as opposed to (-2) Ryan in the 7th actually means that drafting Ryan hurts your team more than Stafford would if you look at both in re: opportunities missed by expected points per round. Just throwing a bunch of -2/-3 guys at us isn’t actually helpful information unless you tell us how to take advantage of it.
