Every week I look around PFF Main content and features to see what fantasy insight we can take away to help owners going forward. To wrap up the fantasy season, I'm taking a look at a struggling rookie quarterback, two of fantasy best commodities and one running back who's closing the year strong.
Another chance for Douglas to shine
When the Falcons are missing one of their starting wide receivers, it’s becoming a fairly safe bet that Harry Douglas will have a good week. With Julio Jones inactive in Week 15, Douglas stepped up to catch 10 passes for 131 yards against the Steelers.
According to Khaled Elsayed’s Steelers-Falcons ReFo, Douglas gained 70 of his receiving yards after the catch. We saw a similar performance when Douglas racked up 53 of his 116 yards after the catch in Week 13 when Roddy White was out.
Julio Jones hasn’t practiced this week, and it’s looking like he’ll either been inactive or simply a decoy for Sunday’s game against the Saints. Assuming that’s the case, fantasy owners need to take advantage of Douglas’ situation.
Over the past two seasons, Douglas is averaging 6.5 receptions and 81.6 yards per game when Jones is out. The Saints have allowed the fifth-most touchdowns and the eighth-most fantasy points to wide receivers in 2014. This is another great matchup for Douglas to exploit.
Redraft PPR owners should view Douglas as a serious WR2 candidate if Jones is inactive. Douglas is also a value pick for DFS players ($5,600 on DraftKings, $6,600 on FanDuel). He was the WR8 in PPR scoring for Week 15. He will likely see 10-plus targets again as a starter in a matchup that should be high scoring.
