PFF Preview: Falcons @ Packers, Week 14

2014-Prev-WK14-ATL@GBThe NFC playoff race heats up on Monday night as the (5-7) Atlanta Falcons visit the (9-3) Green Bay Packers. The Falcons rebounded from a tough loss to the Browns to win at home against the Arizona Cardinals last week. Atlanta remains tied with the Saints atop the NFC South with one matchup left between the two. The Packers held off a late charge from the Patriots in last week’s victory and are trying to hold their position and snag one of the top two seeds in the NFC.

Two under-the-radar stars will match up this week as Desmond Trufant will get to see some time covering Jordy Nelson. Trufant ranks sixth among cornerbacks with a +12.8 overall grade and also has the seventh-best coverage grade at +9.4. Quarterbacks have a 79.2 quarterback rating when throwing into Trufant’s coverage. Jordy Nelson ranks fourth out of all receivers with a +12.9 overall grade. He also ranks second in Wide Receiver Rating at 125.1 and seventh in Deep Passing with a 47.4% catch rate.

Here are a few other players to watch for.

Atlanta Falcons

Matt Ryan – Ryan ranks seventh overall with a +12.3 passing grade and ranks fourth in Accuracy Percentage at 76.4%.

Ryan Schraeder – Schraeder made his first start at right tackle in Week 8 and has been steady ever since. Over the last two weeks he has a +3.6 overall grade and a Pass Blocking Efficiency rating of 96.7.

Jonathan Babineaux – Over the last four weeks his +4.2 overall grade ranks 12th among nosetackles/defensive tackles and his 8.9 Pass Rush Productivity rating ranks ninth.

Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers – He has our top overall quarterback grade at +35.2 and ranks sixth in Deep Passing with an Accuracy Percentage of 53.5%. He has thrown 10 touchdowns and zero interceptions on deep balls.

Bryan Bulaga – His +5.8 overall grade in the last four weeks ranks ninth out of all tackles and his 97.5 Pass Blocking Efficiency rating also ranks ninth.

Mike Daniels – His +19.3 overall grade ranks seventh out of all 3-4 ends and his Pass Rush Productivity rating of 10.0 trails only J.J. Watt.

Holy – I knew Mike was awesome, but I just figured that was my Packer fan bias.
    Nice to see he’s legit.
