PFF Preview: Buccaneers @ Bears, Week 12

2014-Prev-WK12-TB@CHIThe (2-8) Tampa Bay Buccaneers and head coach Lovie Smith (along with ex-Bear Josh McCown) visit his old home Soldier Field on Sunday as they play the (4-6) Chicago Bears. Both teams are coming off of Week 11 wins and both are trying to keep slim playoff hopes alive. Despite being (2-8) the Bucs are still only two games behind the (4-6) Falcons and Saints in the NFC South. The Bears can still use their three remaining division games to make a run at the Lions or Packers in the NFC North.

After struggling in Week 10 Gerald McCoy bounced back in a big way last week with seven total pressures. McCoy has the top Pass Rush grade for any interior lineman at +26.7 and his Pass Rush Productivity rating of 9.7 currently ranks fourth. The Bears will counter with Kyle Long and Brian De La Puente on the interior. Long has a pass-blocking grade of +6.7 and ranks fifth in Pass Blocking Efficiency at 98.2. De La Puente will be making his second consecutive start at left guard but has struggled there so far this season with a -4.6 overall grade.

Here are a few other players to look for.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mike Evans – His +9.4 overall grade in the last four games tops all other receivers and he also leads our Deep Passing statistic with 15 receptions and a 65.2% catch rate on deep balls.

Lavonte David – David’s +7.2 grade against the run ranks fifth out of all 4-3 outside linebackers and his Run Stop Percentage of 14.4% ranks second behind only Deandre Levy.

Demar Dotson – Dotson is tied for 11th for offensive tackles in Pass Blocking Efficiency with a 96.5 rating and his +5.7 Pass Blocking grade ranks 15th.

Chicago Bears

Brandon Marshall – He has the second-highest blocking grade of any receiver at +8.2 and his catch rate in the slot of 75.0 ranks fourth in our Slot Performance rankings.

Lance Briggs – Despite missing four games, Briggs is the eighth-ranked 4-3 outside linebacker with a +6.5 overall grade. He has graded at +3.6 overall in the last two games alone.

Matt Forte – Forte ranks sixth out of all running backs with a +7.8 overall grade and his 1.83 Yards Per Route Run ranks eighth.
