New, old head coach Jon Gruden's first offseason back with the Oakland Raiders has been one heavily involved with veteran signings and the removal of several key components from the past few years. Gone are cornerbacks T.J. Carries and David Amerson. Gone is wide receiver Michael Crabtree. Tackle Marshall Newhouse signed with the Buffalo Bills, interior defender Denico Autry found his way to the Indianapolis Colts while the specialists in Oakland will field a completely new starting duo as Sebastian Janikowski and Marquette King also were let go this offseason.
To fill the voids left by the aforementioned players as well as a few others, Gruden and Co. signed the likes of former All-Pro Jordy Nelson at receiver, former Pro Bowler Doug Martin at running back as well as the secondary quartet of Leon Hall, Shareece Wright, Rashaan Melvin and Marcus Gilchrist. Tahir Whitehead joins the linebacking corps with the Raiders and Breno Giacomini was brought in on the offensive line despite a 32.7 overall grade last season that ranked him 80th of 81 qualified tackles.
