  • Washington Redskins running back Matt Jones has hired Drew Rosenhaus as his new agent. Mr Rosenhaus tweeted a picture of himself with Jones on Sunday to welcome Jones to the agency, followed by a retweet of a report that said that Jones is, “no doubt orchestrating his release from the Redskins and is hoping Rosenhaus will help facilitate the move.”
  • Matt Jones has fallen down the pecking order in Washington since he was benched in Week 7 after his seventh fumble since 2015. He finished the year with a run grade of 69.1, which ranked 27th of 54 backs. His is elusive rating of 31.9 ranked last among Redskins backs and 33rd out of all 53 backs with at least 80 rushing attempts last year.
  • Jones logged 99 rush attempts in 2016, and performed best on outside zone runs, where he averaged 5.6 yards per carry. Jones also performed well on man runs, where he averaged 4.7 yards per carry, above the league average of 3.9. Should Washington choose to move on from him, Jones and Rosenhaus would be wise to look towards a zone-heavy scheme.
