  • According to ESPN, The Carolina Panthers have released veteran left tackle Michael Oher, following a failed medical examination. Oher has been in the concussion protocol since week 3 of the 2016 season, and was unable to see the field during mandatory minicamp.
  • Oher played just 232 snaps in 2016 before a concussion prematurely ended his season. Through three weeks, he attained a pass block efficiency of 92.6, which ranked 46th of 56 offensive tackles with at least 75 pass blocking snaps.
  • Oher’s best year in pass protection came in the 2015 season, in which Carolina made it to Super Bowl 51. Oher ended the season with a pass block efficiency of 95.6, which ranked 19th of 59 qualifying offensive tackles.
  • Oher attained a PFF overall grade of 84.4 in his rookie year, but never replicated that level of success. From 2010 to 2016, Oher managed just one season with a PFF grade above 70.0.
