Golden Tate feels the Lions needing to match Stafford's contract is a priority

  • In an interview on “NFL Total Access”, Detroit Lions receiver Golden Tate feels the franchise needs to do whatever they can to finalize a new contract for quarterback Matthew Stafford.
  • Stafford, who is coming off a career-best PFF grade of 85.9 in 2016, has one year remaining on his current deal.
  • Since teaming up with Stafford, Tate has not had a passer rating when targeted of less than 94.9. Their highest mark to date was in 2014 where Tate's rating when targeted of 104.1 ranked 22nd amongst 90 qualifying receivers.
