Former Chiefs DL Jaye Howard signs with the Chicago Bears
- Jaye Howard, released by the Chiefs, is signing with Chicago on a one-year deal having visited the team recently.
- Howard had been a productive run defender for the Chiefs in the NFL, but offers little as a pass-rusher and has only one season with more than 500 snaps to his name.
- In 2015 – his best season – he posted seven sacks, 41 total pressures, 39 defensive stops and earned an excellent grade against the run.
- Chicago had excellent play against the run in 2016 from Akiem Hicks (80.9 run defense grade), but NT Eddie Goldman played just 197 snaps with injury and Mitch Unrein’s run defense grade of 70.9 was a figure they could improve upon.
