Flacco calls Woodhead team's best receiving back since Rice

  • Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco says RB Danny Woodhead is the best receiving back the Ravens have had since Ray Rice. The Ravens signed the 32-year-old Woodhead to a three-year contract this offseason.
  • The comparison to Ray Rice makes a lot of sense. Over his six-year career, Rice averaged 1.64 yards per route run, which would have ranked seventh out of 43 qualifying RBs in 2016. In his time with the Chargers, Woodhead recorded a YPRR of 1.87, which would have been fourth-highest in 2016.
  • In his last full season played, Woodhead received a grade of 71.0, ranking 32nd among 69 qualifying running backs that season. However, his receiving grade of 89.1 ranked second in the league, and has two of the top-five RB receiving grades over the last five years (even without qualifying in 2014 and 2016).
