  • On Tuesday the Atlanta Falcons announced the release of cornerback Jalen Collins. Collins, the Falcons’ second-round pick in 2015, was ready to be activated after a 10-game suspension for PED use.
  • Collins was a big part of the Falcons defensive success in 2016 that eventually landed them in the Super Bowl. His overall grade of 81.5 last year ranked 22nd among 110 qualifying cornerbacks. He was stingy in coverage only allowing a catch rate of 56.0 percent, the lowest mark among corners on the team.
  • The Falcons have got solid cornerback play this season from their starting trio. Desmond Trufant ranks 11th among cornerbacks with a grade of 87.6 while Robert Alford (74.8), and slot man Brian Poole (78.6), have graded respectably as well. Alford is tied for the league lead in pass break ups with 10.
