  • On Wednesday, Ian Rapaport broke the news that Minnesota Vikings edge defender Everson Griffen was finalizing a massive four-year extension worth 58 million dollars and 34 million dollars in guarantees. even with two years left on his deal.
  • Griffen has put up three very solid seasons of production in a row. He’s earned grades of 84.6, 83.7, and 81.2 during his last three seasons – this past year he ranked 23rd among all edge defenders.
  • A former fourth-round pick in 2010 out of USC, Griffen’s strength has always been the ability to get after the quarterback. Since 2014 – his first full season as a starter- he’s totaled 203 pressures – fourth-most among 4-3 defensive ends in that span.
  • To make Griffen’s numbers even more impressive, of 1580 pass rushing snaps since 2014, he’s rushed from the left side just seven times, meaning he consistently goes up against more talented left tackles on a weekly basis.
