  • The Carolina Panthers have activated star tight end Greg Olsen from injured reserve, according to Jourdan Rodrigue of the Charlotte Observer. Olsen, who broke a bone in his foot in Week 2, is on track to return in Week 12 against the New York Jets, while rookie wide receiver Curtis Samuel will head to IR in a corresponding roster move.
  • Olsen managed 92 snaps before suffering the injury and only saw five targets in his two games of action. He caught all three of the catchable targets for 28 yards at an average of 0.74 yards per route run, which ranked 24th of 28 tight ends with at least five targets in that span.
  • Olsen will hope that he can return to the lineup and re-capture his 2016 form, where he dropped just two of his 82 catchable targets at a drop rate of 2.44, the third-best rate among 40 qualifying tight ends. He ended the campaign with 122 targets (the most among tight ends), 1073 receiving yards (second most) and averaged 2.08 yards per route run, the fourth-highest among the same 40 qualifying players at the position.
