- Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is reporting that Denver Broncos running back Devontae Booker is expected to miss up to 6-8 weeks with a wrist injury.
- As a rookie in 2016, Booker averaged 2.44 yards after contact per carry, the most of any Broncos running back.
- A fourth round draft pick, Booker had his best college season at Utah in 2015 posting a PFF elusive rating of 71.7, ranking 41st out of 169 eligible backs.
- Booker’s absence may create opportunities for veteran Jamaal Charles who was signed via free agency after nine seasons with rivals the Kansas City Chiefs. Charles who has struggled with injury the past two seasons, missing a total of 24 games, could potentially help the Broncos backfield with regard to PFF breakaway percentage. In 2016, the Broncos runners only managed nine runs of 15 or more yards, ranking them 28th in the league. In 2014, his last full season, Charles had 12 of these runs on his own.
- Broncos HC Vance Joseph told Andrew Mason that Booker is scheduled to undergo surgery on Friday, and expects a six-week recovery, having him tentatively ready for Week 1.
