- Cincinnati Bengals rookie RB Joe Mixon was praised for his versatility by Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis on Thursday, but said he is anxious to see him in pass protection. “The rest of the stuff he does very naturally, like running or catching. But (I want to see) his pad level, and making sure his tracks are correct” Lewis said.
- When asked to pass block, Mixon only allowed one total pressure last season for a pass-blocking efficiency (PBE) of 98.4 which ranked seventh in the draft class and was well above the running backs drafted before him (PBE measures pressure allowed on a per snap basis with weighting towards sacks).
- Of his 248 passing snaps last season, Mixon only stayed in to protect on 48 which was only 19.4 percent of the time. This was most likely due to Mixon being such a weapon catching passes out of the backfield. He led the 2017 RB draft class in yards per route run (2.83 YPPR).
