  • The Chicago Bears announced their decision to waive QB Connor Shaw to make room for the signing of WR Victor Cruz. Shaw missed all of 2016 with a broken leg suffered in the preseason. However, after an injury to QB Mark Sanchez during organized team activities, the waiver offer was rescinded by the Bears. Shaw will remain on the 90-man roster.
  • Shaw was impressive last preseason before going down in the Bears’ third game. Through the first four weeks of the preseason, Shaw recorded the fourth-highest QB grade in the league (min. 25 snaps).
  • Shaw ranked second only to Dak Prescott in PFF passer rating (which accounts for dropped passes, throw away, spikes, and yards in the air), with a rating of 119.5. QB Mark Sanchez, who is still on the Bears’ roster, had a rating of 88.3.
