- Following speculation last week that he could be a surprise cut, San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde could be winning over the 49ers coaching staff, with head coach Kyle Shanahan commenting Sunday that Hyde “has given himself a chance to have a good season,” according to Grant Cohn of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.
- Hyde started 13 games in 2016, the most of his career to date, rushing for 988 yards. In the process, he posted a PFF elusive rating of 50.0 — only six running backs with more carries than Hyde finished the season with a better rating.
- Hyde also had 12 rushes of 15-plus yards, helping him to post a PFF breakaway percentage of 31.2, which ranked seventh out of running backs with over 200 carries in the NFL and fourth in the NFC.
