PFF Preview: Rams @ Seahawks, Week 17
The (11-4) Seattle Seahawks head home to CentruryLink Field this Sunday to finish off the regular season. With a win, Seattle can clinch home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. Trying to play spoiler will be the (6-9) St. Louis Rams. The Rams would love nothing more than to knock Seattle out of one of the top two spots in the NFC playoff race and they will have a confidence boost knowing they beat the Seahawks at home back in Week 7.
The Seahawks’ Michael Bennett has been quietly having a strong season. He has the third-highest pass rush grade among 4-3 defensive ends at +19.7 and his 11.7 Pass Rush Productivity rating ranks fifth. Bennett is another example of why sacks don’t tell the whole story when it comes to pass rushers. He only has six, but leads all defensive ends with 68 total pressures. Trying to slow him down will be promising Rams rookie Greg Robinson. Robinson was just starting to get comfortable at the left guard spot when injuries forced him into the starting left tackle role. For the season, Robinson’s -11.0 pass blocking grade ranks 68th out of all tackles and his Pass Block Efficiency rating of 94.5 ranks 47th. The future still looks bright for Robinson but this week could be a struggle.
Here are a few other players to watch for:
St. Louis Rams
Jared Cook – Cook’s +4.8 overall grade ranks 14th out of all tight ends and his Drop Rate of 5.77 ranks 13th.
Robert Quinn – His +17.7 grade since Week 8 ranks second among 4-3 ends and his 51 total pressures for the year rank 13th.
William Hayes – He ranks third out of all 4-3 ends with a +13.1 run grade. He also ranks second in Run Stop Percentage at 10.1%.
Marshawn Lynch – Lynch trails only Le’Veon Bell with a +20.1 overall grade and he tops our RB Elusive Rating as he’s forced a ridiculous 96 total missed tackles on the year.
Kam Chancellor – His +10.2 overall grade since Week 12 leads all safeties and over that time he’s allowed only three completions out of the nine times he’s been targeted.
Cliff Avril – Avril’s +16.0 pass rushing grade ranks seventh at the 4-3 end position and his 11.4 Pass Rush Productivity rating ranks sixth.
