Devonta Freeman continues his dominance among running backs, but there’s was one man who had all the opportunity in Week 4 – DeAndre Hopkins. It’s been a crazy year for Hopkins, who now sits with 12 targets more than the second-highest receivers (Demaryius Thomas).
He’s not only getting targeted a ton, but he’s also being targeted downfield as his 16.8 average depth of target (aDOT) ranks 10th among wide receivers with at least 10 targets. He also ranks 14th among wide receivers with 23.3 percent of his targets coming in the red zone.
Do you want more great stats? Despite terrible quarterback play and almost no Arian Foster, the Texans have run the fourth-most red zone plays per game (12.3) this season. It will be interesting to see what happens to his usage once Foster is fully healthy.
Opportunity Index (OI) is a metric that measures the quality of a player’s opportunity (QB completions plus rushes, RB/WR/TE pass targets plus rushes) versus the quantity of opportunity. Each opportunity is weighted by likelihood to score fantasy points and then adjusted to the position average to get one, clean number where 0% is league average and anything greater is above league average and vice versa.
