Gaming the Game: Week 16 NFL DFS Strategy
As we start considering our DFS lineups for Week 16, weird stuff is already happening around the NFL. Cleveland will stick with Johnny Manziel this week, while Chicago has booted Jay Cutler to the bench in favor of Jimmy Clausen. Houston will play one of Case Keenum, re-signed this week, or Thad Lewis, not even in the FanDuel database. DeMarco Murray had hand surgery on Monday but returned to practice on Wednesday and is questionable for Sunday. More on him later. It certainly feels like it’s going to be a tough week in DFS.
I’ve been having some success with this strategy that involves taking the best players in three different metrics and analyzing their overlap. The result is a fairly safe cash game lineup, barring injuries. Last week we were doomed by TY Hilton’s hamstring and Justin Forsett’s terrible day. Neither was a bad play, but then again, both turned out to be terrible plays. Focussing on using a sound, justifiable strategy is what ought to enable us to get back at it after a tough week. Although I usually only show one lineup based on this strategy here, I mess around and make a few to mitigate the effects of inevitable bad games.
