Gaming the Game - Week 15 NFL DFS Strategy
Well, we’ve finally made it to Week Manziel. Oh, I mean Week 15…right. I have to say, I’ve been holding on to Johnny in a season long 2QB league all year, only to get knocked out just before I’m able to use him. At least no one else can use him either in that league, I guess.
With everyone so excited to get their hands on him for fantasy, I expect his money fingers to be ALL OVER DFS lineups this weekend. His salary is $6700 on FanDuel and $5900 on DraftKings (roughly 11% on both sites). It’s an easy range to work in if you expect big rushing stats complemented by adequate passing stats vs Cincinnati on Sunday.
I feel a little lonely when I say that I’m very wary of the downside of Johnny Manziel this weekend. In the little we’ve seen of him on the field, he has been every bit as dramatic as he is off the field. I don’t deny his tremendous upside, but he’s for sure still rough. I have to believe that Mike Pettine has not been sadistically punishing fans by keeping Manziel in reserve, rather that he has had concerns related to his ability to run a playoff contending offense in the NFL.
No one is asking how short Manziel’s leash will be if he stumbles early on like we were last week. Turns out Hoyer’s was incredibly long and maybe that’ll be the case again. I think if he plays the whole game, and it stays close enough to stick with a balanced game plan, that Manziel will end up being a good play. But thus far in my own lineup building, I’ve yet to slot him in. Here’s my thinking about Week 15 lineup construction. The salaries below are for DraftKings.
