Fantasy football is all about the matchups, especially when it comes to wide receivers versus corner backs. Remember when fantasy matchup analysis used to be “Team A gives up the most fantasy points to wide receivers”? Well, we’ve moved from analog to digital and now look at matchups on an individual level. Each week, I dig through the actually coverage tendencies for all 32 NFL teams and compile this information in the WR/CB Matchup Chart, which is released on Thursday mornings.
Week 15 matchup upgrades
Julio Jones vs. Tampa Bay – Remember what Jones did the last time he faced this Bucs secondary? Just three weeks ago, Jones was utterly dominant, catching 12-of-15 targets for 253 yards and two scores. He did a lot of damage on Ryan Smith, who could likely be on the field again with Vernon Hargreaves still dealing with a hamstring injury. Fireworks could happen again for Jones this week.
Demaryius Thomas vs. Indianapolis – Even though the Broncos haven’t been a strong asset for fantasy purposes, Thomas has still managed to get his. He’s found the end zone in four of the last six weeks and ranks 17th among wideouts in scoring over that span. He’s in play as a solid WR2 play this week against an extremely short-handed Colts secondary that will start Kenny Moore, Quincy Wilson, and Nate Hairston.
