Week 2 college DFS plays on DraftKings

College football is back – and thanks to the availability of daily fantasy games, it’s better than ever! Well, at least better than it’s been in a few years. The game is a little different than it was several years ago when it was last available. In case you’re playing catchup, here’s an overview of what college football games look like on DraftKings:

Salary cap — $50,000
Lineup construction — QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, flex, superflex

(Important notes: In flex spot one, we can play a running back or a wide receiver. In the superflex spot, we can use any player in the pool. If you’re looking for tight ends, they are all listed at wide receiver.)

In Week 1, we smashed with this column, including nailing the Will Grier/David Sills stack, Dwayne Haskins, and Rodney Anderson. I missed on one of the most important plays on last week’s slate though, Mike Weber, as I leaned in favor of his running mate, J.K. Dobbins.

Here are some of my favorite plays for the Saturday main slate on DraftKings (15 games) in Week 2:

Quarterback

Justin Herbert, Oregon ($9,900)

Herbert was a little rusty in the opener, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at his 39.3 DraftKings points. The veteran threw five touchdowns in two-and-a-half quarters of work against Bowling Green. In Week 2, he draws a juicy matchup with Portland State and should be able to do whatever he wants for as long as he’s allowed to stay in the game. Expect 40-plus points and another short day for Herbert.

Steven Montez, Colorado ($8,500)

Montez was a wonder against in-state rival, Colorado State last week, throwing for over 300 yards and four touchdowns to go with a rushing score. He faces a tougher opponent in Nebraska this week but given his demonstrated upside he is a value at this price. Montez’s rushing prowess should also help protect his floor in a game that projects to be close — Colorado is just a four-point road underdog this week.
