Week 15 waiver-wire pickups and fantasy targets

If you’ve made it to this point, congratulations. In most leagues, just four teams remain standing. Needless to say, the waiver wire is likely to be a post-apocalyptic wasteland, but there are some moves to be made.

Remember, we cast a wide net every week in our waiver wire advice. Below you’ll see recommendations for shallow, regular and deep leagues. Players are listed in order of priority and the suggested auction budget percentage is in parentheses.

Keep in mind that some leagues may be more aggressive or conservative in terms of bidding, so know your league tendencies. Regardless of the size of your league, it’s suggested that you work your way down the list and prioritize the top players in your waiver claims for this week.

Shallow leagues (8-10 teams)

Quarterback

1. Sam Bradford, Minnesota (5%) – The pickings are extremely thin at quarterback this week, but those in need may want to give Bradford a look. He’s in play as a streamer option this week in a plus matchup against the Colts.

Running back

1. Bilal Powell, NY Jets (50-100%) – Matt Forte exited Sunday’s contest early with a knee injury, and Powell proceeded to shred the 49ers. With Forte looking iffy for this week and maybe the rest of the season, Powell is lined up for a big workload. However, it’s important to keep in mind that his performance was against a terrible run defense and the Jets will continue to have Bryce Petty under center going forward. That said, you don’t likely have any other options at this point.

2. Ty Montgomery, Green Bay (50-100%) – We’re listing him as a running back, but Montgomery remains a dual-eligibility fantasy player on most commissioner sites. This past weekend, he touched the ball 12 times and continued to look like the Packers’ best option in the backfield. He has the potential to offer either RB2 or WR2 value for the remainder of the fantasy football playoffs.

3. T.J. Yeldon, Jacksonville (50-100%) – Yeldon dominated touches out of the Jags’ backfield with Chris Ivory out this past weekend. The heavy workloads will continue as long as Ivory remains out, but Yeldon does not offer a very high fantasy ceiling.

Wide receiver

1. Taylor Gabriel, Atlanta (50-100%) – Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu are banged up, and Gabriel continues to display a high fantasy ceiling. He had a relatively quiet game going on Sunday, but managed to get loose for a 64-yard score. Even with Jones and Sanu back, Gabriel will have value for the stretch run.

Tight end

1. Charles Clay, Buffalo (10%) – You may be in a situation where you need to stream at tight end. Clay is worth a look after finding the end zone in Week 14. He gets an excellent matchup against a Browns defense that just surrendered two scores to Tyler Eifert.

Regular leagues (12 teams)

Quarterback

1. Trevor Siemian, Denver (3%) – With the Denver run game floundering, Siemian connected with Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas a combined 21 times in Week 14. The Broncos face New England this week, which means we could set up for another pass-heavy game script.
