The top player stacks for Week 2 in daily fantasy
In our quest to find the best stacks every week on each of the three main DFS sites (DraftKings, Fanduel, Yahoo), we went 2-for-3 in Week 1. The Tyrod Taylor and Sammy Watkins stack was a total bust, but we hit big with the Alex Smith, Spencer Ware and Jeremy Maclin stack. We also grabbed a nice return on our investment with the Andrew Luck, Donte Moncrief, and Phillip Dorsett stack. Let’s jump into the best Week 2 stacks.
Philip Rivers, QB, Danny Woodhead, RB, Tyrell Williams, WR (Chargers vs. Jaguars)
The QB, RB, WR is new to this column — as of last week — and it’s 1-for-1. We struck gold with the Chiefs trio in Week 1 and I think that we’re likely to repeat in Week 2 with the Chargers stack. Much was made about the Jaguars’ improved defense heading into 2016, but in Week 1, this was only the case in the run department. The Chargers will take advantage of the best matchup for their offense — the passing game. And even if they’re not wise enough to play the matchups in the first half, their defense will dictate that they attack via the air shortly for the entire second half. The volume will be no issue in this game.
The Jaguars did an excellent job limiting Eddie Lacy on the ground but they continued to struggle in the passing game. They finished 32nd-best in pass rush overall in Week 1 and the Chargers’ pass-blocking looked much improved against an always scary Chiefs pass rush. On 67 pass-rush snaps combined, Jaguars pass rushers Dante Fowler, Sen’Derrick Marks, and Jared Odrick combined for one total pressure — and it wasn’t even a sack or hit. Yannick Ngakoue added three total pressures but it took him 34 pass rush snaps. The Jaguars’ pass rush was nonexistent.
