The playoffs are here and the DFS pickings are slim. That means the bargains are difficult to find and even more difficult to trust.
This week I highlight some of the lower-cost options, but with some standards. For instance, I could tell you that Connor Cook is the cheapest option on all the platforms, but that’s about all I can tell you with any confidence or certainly based on data. Even with minimal choices, use PFF data.
Here are some players that won’t break the bank and offer some nice upside over Wile Card weekend.
Quarterbacks
Matt Moore, Miami Dolphins (at Pittsburgh)
FanDuel: $6,900 (sixth)
DraftKings: $5,100 (eighth, tied)
Yahoo: $23 (10th)
Head coach Adam Gase told reporters “unless something changes drastically,” Matt Moore will get the start when the Dolphins face the Steelers Sunday. Ryan Tannehill is out of his cast, but he’s yet to practice since he sprained his ACL and MCL four weeks ago. Gase did say that if Tannehill got in a full practice he would be the starter, but for now, he’s banking on Moore. Over the last three weeks, Moore has completed 52 of his 72 aimed throws for 681 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions. The Steelers haven’t allowed over 262 passing yards to any quarterback since Week 10, and not one quarterback could throw more than two touchdowns on them all season. More than likely the Dolphins will rely on the run like they did when they beat the Steelers in Week 6. Jay Ajayi carried the ball 28 times for 204 yards and two touchdowns during that game, but to make that kind of productivity possible, the Dolphins must mix it up. Moore has proven to be an efficient quarterback who doesn’t make a whole lot of mistakes. He’s risky, but the likelihood of him out performing his price tag is high.
