Fantasy football team power rankings: 20-17
We’re continuing our roll through our power ranking of all 32 NFL teams in terms of what they offer fantasy football owners with teams Nos. 20-17. These rankings are based on our own 2016 player projections. The series assumes a 12-team PPR league with a starting lineup of one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, one tight end and one flex position. Kickers and D/STs are not accounted for.
Here are today’s four teams: (click to enlarge)
No. 20: Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears have fallen from grace in the fantasy football world. After boasting the No. 6 fantasy offense in 2015 and the No. 2 team in 2014, the Bears fall all the way to No. 20 in 2016. The Bears offer fantasy owners 11 percent less value than the average NFL team. They rank 12th at wide receiver, but they are No. 21 at quarterback, No. 29 at running back and No. 16 at tight end.
Jay Cutler is the same fantasy quarterback in 2016 as he has been his entire career: A fantasy backup that should really only be in starting lineups during bye weeks. He threw for 3,659 yards last year (19th) and only 21 touchdowns (ranked 21st). He ranked in the middle of the pack in attempts, completions and fantasy points per dropback as well. All told, Cutler is a middling fantasy option.
The loss of Matt Forte hurts the Bears from a fantasy perspective. Jeremy Langford was a decent fantasy option in some games last season, but he’s being overvalued heading into the 2016 season.
