Week 4 fantasy start/sit advice and top matchups look
This week, like every week, we will look back at last week’s advice to see how we did. We hit big on Drew Brees and T.Y. Hilton as our top matchups at QB and WR while seeing a modest return on Melvin Gordon as our top RB matchup. We got the Redskins vs. Giants game wrong and that hurt us across the board (starting Eli Manning; benching Kirk Cousins and DeSean Jackson). We recovered by starting DeVante Parker and benching Justin Forsett. The call to start Eddie Lacy was a wash.
And now for Week 4
The best matchups
Philip Rivers, QB, Chargers (vs. Saints)
I know — Rivers is the chalkiest of chalk picks for Week 4. At this point, almost any QB vs. the Saints qualifies for that statement. But that doesn’t mean you can’t put him to good use in your DFS cash game lineups. Rivers have five TDs and no interceptions this season, he’s completing nearly 70 percent of his passes, and he’s averaging 264.3 passing yards per game. Now he draws easily his best matchup of the season so far and he’s a great bet to add to those numbers.
Tyrell Williams, Travis Benjamin and Hunter Henry are not Danny Woodhead, Keenan Allen and Antonio Gates (the latter is expected to miss another game), but they don’t have to be. This Saints defense is on the verge of entering the “historically bad” stratosphere — a place they found themselves in last season. It’s not all their fault — the injury bug hasn’t been kind to them — but they simply didn’t have the salary cap to do much for this unit in the offseason. And now it shows.
