- The top four players in PFF's pre-draft tight end rankings were in the top half of draft-eligible tight ends in yards per route run, and well exceeded the national average.
- Evan Engram of Ole Miss checked in at top of the class and also led all tight ends in receiving yards.
- Miami's David Njoku came in third among the 49 eligible tight ends in large part to leading the position in yards after the catch.
- Gerald Everett of South Alabama came in fifth of the 49 eligible tight ends. For the season, he forced 24 missed tackles on catches which is nine more than the next closest tight end.
- O.J. Howard checked in at 13, but that could be a result of only seeing 57 targets last season.
- A team who could be interested in one of these prospects is the Jacksonville Jaguars. Their tight ends in 2016 averaged just 1.04 yards per route run, which ranked 31st out of 32 teams.
