- It was another strong effort for Iowa CB Joshua Jackson who has broken out in the early going this season. The 6-foot-1 185-pound cornerback has played 196 snaps after playing only 297 snaps the previous two seasons, and he’s allowed only 14 catches on 30 targets to go with two interceptions and five pass breakups.
- Against North Texas, Jackson was targeted seven times, allowing only two catches into his coverage for 22 yards while picking off a pass, all adding up to a passer rating of 0.6 on passes thrown into his coverage for the game.
- In a wide-open cornerback class, Jackson has emerged as a name to know given his long frame and notable playmaking ability. Perhaps this should not have been a surprise given his production in limited time the last two years as he managed to break up nine passes on only 40 targets in 2015 and 2016, an incredible rate of making plays on the ball.
- One thing to keep an eye on with Jackson is the big plays as he allowed 17.1 yards per reception in 2015 and 2016, and while he’s off to a good start this season, those are the plays he needs to avoid as the competition heats up.
