- In his first mock draft, Cris Collinsworth had the Jaguars selecting Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson fourth overall.
- Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles regressed in a big way in 2016 in terms of deep passing, as his rating of 17.5 on deep throws was last among 34 eligible quarterbacks.
- Watson's passer rating on deep throws ranked 12th among 2017 draft-eligible quarterbacks at 110.6, which was a big improvement from his sophomore-year figure of 92.7.
- As a freshman in 2014, Watson ranked sixth in the country in deep passing, with a rating of 115.3. That number was higher than both of that year's top quarterback prospects, Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota.
Fantasy Slant: Blake Bortles has managed to finish as a top-10 fantasy quarterback in each of the last two seasons despite lackluster play. We doubt Watson could accomplish that feat as a rookie, but he does have a long-term QB1 ceiling.
