  • After working through a rocky start to the season, Alabama CB Anthony Averett finished his first year as a starter among the top defensive backs in the country. He forced incompletions on 23.2 percent of his targets in 2016, ranking No. 9 among all draft-eligible cornerbacks.
  • A former four-star recruit, Averett ranked No. 2 behind his teammate Minkah Fitzpatrick in yards allowed per coverage snap (0.83) among returning SEC cornerbacks with at least 500 coverage snaps. Fitzpatrick and Averett fell within that same pecking order in coverage snaps per target at 8.5 and 8.3, respectively.
  • Proving to be a reliable tackler, Averett ranked No. 2 among returning SEC cornerbacks and No. 9 among all draft-eligible cornerbacks in tackling efficiency in 2016. He only missed two of his 46 tackle attempts.
  • Now entering his redshirt senior season in Tuscaloosa, Averett must improve his run defense. He ranked No. 97 in the 2018 draft class in run stop percentage at 1.2 percent.
