There are only a few weeks left in the season, but that hasn’t stopped teams from trying new things with their front seven. For some teams that means changing who the every down linebackers are and for another it has meant changing the number of defensive linemen and linebackers in the nickel defense. As always, the IDP Snap Report is here to let you know which players saw a significant change in snaps last week and what it means going forward.
Jeremiah Ratliff
After missing a calendar years’ worth of games, the athlete formerly known as Jay Ratliff returned to action in a Bears uniform and played in 26% of snaps. While he might not make much of a fantasy impact this year, it’s worth seeing how high his snaps get to see if he is worth considering in 2014. All of the Bears backup defensive linemen saw a decrease of snaps. Stephen Paea saw only 48% of snaps after missing last week. If this helps anyone on the Bears defense this year, it is Corey Wootton who played 15 of his 77 snaps at defensive end after playing all of last week at defensive tackle.
