Green Bay’s D/ST set to rebound in Week 10 against Detroit

When it comes to preseason D/ST rankings, nothing it set in stone.

The Seattle Seahawks defense is tied with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens for fewest interceptions in the league through nine weeks of the season, despite being the first defense taken in just about every redraft league prior to the summer.

The Tennessee Titans defense has only recovered one fumble all year, and yet they’ve scored more fantasy points in standard ESPN leagues than the Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans.

Two of the three unbeaten teams in the NFL, the New England Patriots and Cincinnati Bengals, don’t have a special teams or defensive touchdown yet, and the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers lead the league in interceptions and fumbles recovered, respectively.

Scoring in fantasy football is volatile enough as it is on the offensive side of the ball, but a missed tackle or two during a game could determine how many points a defense gets you. The best way to combat the volatility is to focus on matchups and the health of a particular defense before you make a decision on which to pick up off the waiver wire or roster in your DFS games.

Of course the Denver Broncos will be a strong play this week, but what will become of their secondary without Aqib Talib? The Giants have looked good in terms of getting points for interceptions, but losing DT Johnathan Hankins will impact the push up front, presumably allowing receivers to have more time to get open.

As with most weeks, you should focus on which teams are forcing turnovers, playing well as a unit, and present the biggest matchup problems for opposing offenses. Below are some of the top D/ST units worth targeting in Week 10.
