The NFL regular season is here, and with it the first week of DFS. Each week, I’ll be offering my DFS Locks of the Week. These aren’t just the studs; rather, it’s the mid-level guys who have the right situations in a given week to be in every DFS lineup.
I’ll be offering at least two quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers each week, and then one tight end. These are players who are veritable locks to give you a solid return on investment. For these purposes, the cheaper the better—but not so cheap as to leave anything to chance, as these truly are my locks. This is tailored for DFS, but of course, a player who is a DFS lock should also be in your weekly lineups as well.
Read which players are here. And insert those players into your lineups.
Quarterback
Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions (vs. Colts)
I stated my concerns with Stafford before the season began, but if there is one thing that he does well, it’s perform against bad competition. In Week 1, he has arguably the best matchup in all of football when the Lions go on the road to play against the Colts.
In the last two seasons, when Stafford has played against the top-16 and bottom-16 pass defenses, the numbers speak for themselves.
Pass Comp | Pass Att | Pass Yds | Pass TD | Pass INT | Fantasy Pts | |
Bottom 16 | 24.4 | 37.6 | 292.8 | 1.94 | 0.71 | 24.3 |
Top 16 | 18.3 | 37.0 | 235.3 | 1.40 | 0.87 | 18.3 |
