As always, make sure you’ve checked out Jeff Ratcliffe’s latest pieces if you want to stay on top of your IDP game. The work on tackles per opportunity (tPOP) helps identify the most favorable stat crews when it comes to awarding tackles, while the IDP Matchup Chart lets us key in on some of the best matchups on a positional basis. There is a reason PFF Fantasy is the home to the most accurate IDP rankers for the last four seasons according to FantasyPros, and data such as Jeff puts out is a large reason why.
Stop by the IDP section of the site and get the latest articles from both myself and Jeff.
With that being said, let's dive into some start/sit advice for this week.
Pass Rushers
Man oh man Linval Joseph has been on a tear the last few weeks. His selection here is nothing to do with matchup, and entirely down to riding an in-form player. Joseph’s 26 total tackles in the last three weeks is a linebacker-esque figure, and he has also been the No.1 scoring defensive lineman since Week 9. Yup, he’s been outscoring all those stud ends too! Only J.J. Watt and Cliff Avril, who both had byes during that three week span, have scored more points per game, so that gives you an indication of just how well he is playing. I’ve picked up Joseph in a shallower friends and family league on ESPN and will be starting him this week at DT over Geno Atkins and Sheldon Richardson (who is DT/DE eligible on ESPN), that’s how much I like him this week.
Seattle has been a great matchup all year for edge rushers, and Cameron Heyward and Stephon Tuitt have been two of my favorite underrated fantasy ends all season too, earning them several mentions in my waiver wire and start/sit columns this year. Heyward has quietly posted double-figure fantasy points in each of his last four games, while Tuitt recorded a sack last week, getting back to full speed after missing a couple of games due to injury. I like Heyward as a top-end DL2 this week, while I’ve ranked Tuitt a shade behind him as a mid-pack DL2.
