Fantasy Impact: Buffalo Bills Select Robert Woods

With the 41st pick in the 2013 NFL draft, the Buffalo Bills nabbed WR Robert Woods from USC.

Woods is a fairly pro-ready receiver, and he's able to run routes with the talent of some NFL veterans. Woods isn't a burner, but he should get his fair share of catches in short and intermediate routes with solid post-catch ability. His biggest knock is that he's not a great deep threat, but he could develop into a very solid No. 2 wide receiver for the Bills opposite Stevie Johnson. Woods has also been banged up at points during his career and took a backseat to stud WR Marqise Lee in 2012 after a stellar 2011 season.

Fantasy Impact with the Buffalo Bills

Woods should immediately slot into the No. 2 WR role opposite Stevie Johnson. The hunch here is that Kevin Kolb will get the initial start at QB while E.J. Manuel develops, and without many other receiving weapons, Woods may compile decent statistics and volume as a rookie. It certainly doesn't hurt that he runs routes well, as rookie WRs generally have a big learning curve in this department. He's worth a late-round gamble in redraft leagues as long as you understand he doesn't have the ceiling of a Cordarelle Patterson or Justin Hunter in either 2013 or in dynasty leagues.
