The five worst defenders you definitely want on your IDP roster

It’s no secret that some of the league’s best defenders make for terrible IDP options. Denver’s Von Miller gets drastically out-tackled by inferior off-ball linebackers. Richard Sherman rarely stuffs the stat sheet as opposing quarterbacks simply avoid his side of the field. Inversely, some very subpar NFL players find themselves atop the IDP leaderboard. A below-average linebacker might get tackles funneled his way as a result of the defensive scheme. A cornerback might be opposite an elite player, resulting in more targets thrown his way. Sometimes an entire defense struggles to get off the field, resulting in increased opportunities for everyone.

Here are some players that have underwhelmed in recent years as far as the real game is concerned, but who make strong additions to any IDP roster.

Landon Collins, safety, New York Giants

Collins was the fifth-worst safety by overall season grade in 2015, finishing one spot better than Johnathan Cyprien. He finished the year with only one weekly grade above +1.0. His weakest area was pass coverage, where he allowed his opposition to catch 100 percent of targets thrown his way in six games. He gave up the most receiving yards and most yards after catch by safeties playing more than 75 percent of snaps. He also allowed the seventh-most touchdowns at his position.
