Fallout from injuries to Lynch, Forsett, and Flacco

Many top-tier fantasy players went down with injuries on Sunday. The team hit the hardest was the Ravens. They lost both Joe Flacco and Justin Forsett for the rest of the season. I’ll cover these stories and all of the other fantasy-relevant injuries you need to know heading into Week 12. As with every week, this article will be updated throughout the week as more is known regarding these injuries.

Quarterbacks

Andrew Luck is healing up from an abdominal tear, fractured rib, and lacerated kidney. The Colts initial timetable for his return was 2-6 weeks—which was overly optimistic.

Luck didn’t require surgery to treat his kidney laceration, so that left the door open for a quicker return. However, these injuries take at least six weeks to heal.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network recently reported that the Colts now expect Luck to return in mid December. That timetable seems more reasonable to me. I think mid December is the soonest we would see Luck return. It may even take a week or two longer than that.

What about Frank Gore’s injury and picking up Bradshaw?

    • David Pratt

It looked like Gore suffered a quad contusion/bruise. He left the game for a short time, and then returned. The symptoms of a quad contusion are at their worst 24-48 hours after onset, so Gore may be stiff and sore today. However, I didn’t see anything in the game tape, or hear anything in the media, to make me think he’ll miss any playing time. All in all, I think he’s just a little dinged up. If anything arises with him throughout the week, I’ll include him in my redux injury report on Saturday.

As for Bradshaw, he’s worth being picked up if you’re lacking depth at running back–especially in PPR leagues. His workload will continue to be limited though.
