Dynasty Stock Market – Wide Receivers

JoshGordonThe future is never clear, and you pay a very high price in the stock market for a cheery consensus. Uncertainty is the friend of the buyer of long-term values. – Warren Buffett

Often times, the consensus opinion of anything is generally more accurate than one individual’s take. But it doesn’t mean that the consensus is always right or that values are priced accordingly. Sometimes having a unique set of data allows you to have an edge over the field to account for something they are not. That is where Pro Football Focus comes in.

In the final installment of a three-part series, I will highlight several wide receivers who I feel are not priced accordingly in dynasty formats by utilizing the Keeper/Dynasty ECR (Expert Consensus Ranking) at Fantasy Pros. You should target these undervalued players in startup drafts and via trade. The overvalued players should be avoided in startup drafts and make great sell-high candidates before the market catches up to their value.

Josh Gordon – Browns

My rank: WR7 | ECR: WR17 | ADP: WR13

Gordon has been one of the biggest risers this offseason among all wide receivers. This is despite a looming two-game suspension to start the 2013 season. His dynasty average draft position has gone from WR27 to WR13 since June, yet he still has the potential to provide value. I wrote an article on Gordon for RotoViz.com back in June explaining that he was the perfect example of a player heading in the right direction that is worth selecting sooner than he “should go.”
