Colts: Adams has found a home

PFF-headlinesMike C. Adams is the definition of a ‘journeyman’; an undrafted free agent in 2004, the safety has played for the 49ers, Browns and Broncos before coming to Indianapolis this off-season. The Colts have to be thrilled to have him.

While the other safety position is currently a rotation between Sergio Brown and LaRon Landry, Adams rarely leaves the field. In 13 games this season he’s only graded negatively in coverage three times while earning a ‘green’ grade five times.

He currently has a +9.7 cumulative coverage grade and five interceptions (including two rare picks of Tom Brady) – both of which rank second among his safety peers. Adams also has four passes defensed and forced a fumble in Week 5.

Adams is responsible for two TD passes in his coverage but one was in garbage time during a blowout over the Giants . The other was a blown coverage vs. Washington where Colt McCoy eluded three sacks before throwing the pass. He did have problems against the Eagles, Patriots, and Texans running attacks, but it’s still hard to argue Adams isn’t playing a Pro Bowl level.
