2014 Fantasy Football Sleepers: The Also-Rans

Denver Broncos v Minnesota VikingsWe are less than a week away from the 2014 NFL season, and every possible talking point has been talked to death, brought back to life, then talked to death again. At this point in the year, it seems almost silly to think there’s an original thought left regarding fantasy football. Everyone knows Cordarrelle Patterson looks like an almost sure thing, Ladarius Green is in line to take a big step forward in the Chargers offense, and Carlos Hyde could finally dethrone Frank Gore in San Francisco. It’s hard for any fantasy player to be surprised at what’s being reported six days before the season begins.

With all of the above said, I’ll try my best to not bore you with information on guys you’ve been hearing about all offseason. There are still a few guys who could fly under the radar and help your team. These aren’t hidden gems by any means, and all of the names will look very familiar to any fantasy football fan, but they could pay dividends to those who take chances on them if the circumstances are right. The last few rounds of a fantasy draft are rarely exciting in the moment, or important when the season comes to an end, so adding one or more of these guys to the end of your roster may not be the worst idea in the world.

Gary Althiser is a diehard 49ers and San Francisco Giants fan. He feels weird talking about himself in third-person, but if you want to find him, he usually spends his free time on Twitter irrationally arguing about Alex Smith, or sobbing after NFC championship games. @NFLGary
