VIDEO: Bengals are legitimate Super Bowl contenders

We’ve seen it before—the Bengals get hot in the regular season, but can’t get the job done when the playoffs roll around. Is this year any different?

Pro Football Focus’ Cris Collinsworth explains why Cincinnati looks like a legitimate Super Bowl contender in 2015.

Do you think the Bengals have what it takes to contend in the postseason? Let us know on Twitter, or in the comment section below.

Even if I was thirsty I’m not getting in line to drink this orange kool-aid.

I can understand the trepidation of some, be they Bengals fans or not, based on the recent playoff results, to jump on the Bengal bandwagon. With that said, this team definitely has a different feel, vibe, swag, etc… The camaraderie is noticeably more evident, as is Dalton’s leadership, and command of the huddle, as well as his on field performance and decision making. The ball is coming out faster, tighter, with more zip. When they relinquished the lead to Baltimore, the cameras panned in on the Bengal sideline, and everyone was loose, Dalton was leading the group with a smile on his face, clapping his hands, and the players were responding positively….not looking shocked, nor concerned, as in the past, the whole group was relaxed, and ready to go…that’s confidence that I had not witnessed dating back to 89!! If this unit stays healthy, and on the same page, I believe the playoff win drought ends, and they are definitely legitimate contenders, based on the talent level on both sides of the ball alone! Now the on field, game time coaching, still has me mildly leary, but, this group is loaded and locked right now, and I am ready to ride that momentum to, and thru the playoffs, and true Benglas fan, unless given a reason, stop being so pessimistic, start supporting this team, get off the Dalton-kick a dead horse platform, and enjoy the winning…if you cant, then go the hell away, stick to your negative news show fetishes, and let REAL fans enjoy the “kool aid!! Now, get the heck out of the line faceless “crosseyedlemon”, so I can refill my orange n black kool-aid cup 😉

An undefeated team at this point in the season should be confident and loose Jason but the litmus test is going to be how the Bengals react to adversity. Their track record from the past isn’t that stellar in this regard. Now maybe this year they have the leadership and maturity to rebound if they go into a losing slump but for me the jury is still out. I’ve seen the Bengals transform into the Bungles too many times in the past to be sold on them just because they are off to a fast start.

Where do they fail to adversity? Cause they’ve lost playoff games? How many teams have made the playoffs the last 4 years? Not as many as you think.

There’s no shame in losing playoff games.

The “Bungles” stuff is silly. That was 10-20 years ago, when none of these guys were part of the team.

Yeah lets see tehm beat someone good first the 0-3 raven don’t count.

    • Jason Hensley

The Ravens do count, their an NFL team, and are the same Ravens many so called, NFL expert analyst, actually picked to win the AFC North.
The same Ravens team, that many of these same analyst, are saying that even at 0-3, will still be a playoff team (I’m not buying it).
This is not the same Ravens team that won the S.B. a couple of yrs back, in fact, I picked them to struggle to 8-8…the eyes don’t lie, they are solid, and coached well, but outside of Steve Smith, they are seriously lacking playmakers!
But, to dismissively say Ravens don’t count, you are clearly naive, and have little to no understanding, of just how difficult it is to win a division rivalry gm, on the road!!

        well put

      • Jim Winslow

I know a wins a win, but the Bengal beating a 0-3 ravens squad doesn’t mean they are ready to turn the corner. They should win that game and they did, doing that doesn’t scream super bowl contender. Beat/play against a top team, and then we will see.

        • steve

What is your favorite team? Do the Bengals play them this year?
Bengals have to play Seahawks, who are arguably best team in NFL, in 2 weeks. Then we will see how good they are.

          • Jim Winslow

Yeah, because dominant performances against the ravens, san diego and oakland means they are legit. Oh wait they barely beat san diego and Baltimore and those teams are greatly flawed. Also is your favourite team the team bengals?
