Trust Kansas City DST in Week 5

We are a quarter of the way through the NFL season, and a few things jump off the page when evaluating the fantasy football DST landscape.

The Minnesota Vikings have a top-eight fantasy DST.

The Miami Dolphins, after the addition of Ndamukong Suh, have only one sack.

The Washington Redskins have an above average fantasy DST despite having zero interceptions.

The Houston Texans DST finished in the top-five in 2014, and rank in bottom-five in 2015.

There is so much volatility in defenses from year to year, game to game, and even from the first half to the second half in the NFL. What this means is that finding sleeper DST’s for DFS purposes comes down to matchups, specifically defensive strengths and offensive weaknesses, that will ultimately determine how successful a defense will be on any given Sunday.

Last week, the Atlanta Falcons defense scored more fantasy points than any other team thanks to four turnovers and two defensive touchdowns. If we look closer at why this happened, one glaring factor is that Atlanta has an above average run stopping defense, and Houston is one of the worst teams in the league at run blocking. This made Arian Foster’s debut pretty miserable, and the Texans had to abandon the run thanks to the fact that they couldn’t move the ball on the ground, and they fell so far behind early they didn’t have much choice.
