Top DraftKings Football Values for Week 7

smhchargers333002x0033_r620x349If you’ve never played weekly salary-cap fantasy games, you’re missing out on what’s quickly becoming the hottest new trend in fantasy football and a great way to make some quick cash. No longer are you locked into a team for an entire season (or longer) and subject to the pain of injuries and poor performance. Instead, each week you pick a new set of players to fill your lineup. This is an exciting format that takes away a lot of the stress that goes with season-long fantasy leagues.

For those not familiar with DraftKings’ format, you are awarded a total budget of $50,000 to fill a roster of nine players (QB, RB1, RB2, WR1, WR2, TE, FLEX (RB/WR/TE), K and DST). You must pick players from at least two different NFL teams that represent two different games that week. The scoring rules are similar to most PPR scoring leagues, but you can check out the details over at DraftKings for more information there.

Now that we’ve gotten the introductory information out of the way, here’s the most valuable DraftKings lineup for Week 7.

Quarterback

Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles ($7,000)

Foles is set to make his second-straight start for the Eagles this Sunday, after lighting up the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week for 296 passing yards and four total touchdowns, finishing the week as the second-best fantasy quarterback with 30 points. The Cowboys pass defense has allowed 1,974 passing yards and 14 touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks this season and 22.7 fantasy points-per-game, which is the most in the league. There’s no reason to believe Foles won’t be a top-five fantasy quarterback this week, which makes him a huge value at just $7,000 with 14 other quarterbacks with a higher price tag.

Running Back

Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs ($8,500)

Charles may be the third-most expensive running back this week, but he’s well worth spending top dollar as the best fantasy running back this season. The Houston Texans’ run defense is ranked in the middle of the pack with a +4.3 grade and are allowing 15.3 fantasy points-per-game to opposing running backs. This will be the floor for Charles fantasy production, and we have him projected to finish as the top fantasy ‘back for Week 7 with 21.4 points.

Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($7,100)

Martin comes into Week 7 as the 18th-best fantasy running back, averaging just over 10 points-per-game this season. While that’s obviously not what most were expecting from him, that’s not terrible production. The Atlanta Falcons run defense is ranked 21st and the last team with a positive grade at +0.6 and are allowing 13.6 fantasy PPG to opposing running backs. The Buccaneers have a rookie quarterback making his second career start, on the road in a very hostile environment, meaning they will likely lean heavily on Martin with 25-plus touch — which equates to top-10 RB1 numbers for the week and makes Martin a great value at $7,100.

Wide Receiver

DeSean Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles ($7,700)

If you’re going to start Foles against Dallas’ terrible pass defense, you might as well start his No. 1 target as well. Dallas is surrendering an average of 22.7 fantasy PPG to opposing receivers this season. Jackson is the top fantasy receiver this season and is averaging just under 15 PPG, which makes him a great start this week.

Keenan Allen, San Diego Chargers ($5,700)

Allen has come on strong in the last couple of weeks and solidified his role as the top receiver on the team and Philip Rivers’ new favorite target. The Jacksonville Jaguars have the 22nd ranked pass-coverage unit with a -12.7 grade and are surrendering 22.7 fantasy PPG to opposing receivers. Allen is clearly the most physically gifted receiver on the team and Vincent Brown’s inconsistency make Allen a tremendous value at just $5,700.

Tight End

Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys ($5,300)

The Cowboys are going to go pass-heavy with DeMarco Murray hampered by injury and possibly missing the game altogether, which doesn’t bode well for the Eagles and their 29th ranked pass-coverage unit, which sports an ugly -26.5 grade. Witten has always been Tony Romo’s favorite target, so despite the emergence of Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams, there will be enough targets to go around for Witten to still finish the week as a top-three fantasy tight end.

Flex

DeAngelo Williams, Carolina Panthers ($4,400)

Williams has been a consistent performer all season and the only reason he’s not ranked higher in the fantasy realm is his lack of touchdowns. Even without reaching the end zone once this season, Williams is still averaging just under 10 fantasy PPG. The St. Louis Rams have the 29th ranked run defense with an abysmal -21.4 grade and allowing 21.5 fantasy PPG to opposing running backs, which is the second-most in the league. Williams is a steal at $4,400, you can’t get many other true No. 1 backs for that price this week.

Kicker

Graham Gano, Carolina Panthers ($3,000)

Carolina is a better unit on both sides of the ball than the Rams and shouldn’t have too much trouble finding the endzone or getting within field goal distance often, which will set Gano up for plenty of scoring opportunities and makes him one of the best values at the cheapest price for kickers.

Defense and Special Teams

New York Jets ($2,400)

Earlier this season, the Jets held the Patriots to just 13 points. New York is ranked the ninth-overall defense and the top run defense so far this season, with grades of +21.2 and +56.4, respectively. The Jets will do a good job of shutting down a badly beaten-up Patriots’ squad, and could really boost their value with a turnover. But you still can’t beat their price, which is the fourth cheapest this week.
