Top DraftKings Football Values for Week 6

Jamaal-CharlesIf you’ve never played weekly salary-cap fantasy games, you’re missing out on what’s quickly becoming the hottest new trend in fantasy football and a great way to make some quick cash. No longer are you locked into a team for an entire season (or longer) and subject to the pain of injuries and poor performance. Instead, each week you pick a new set of players to fill your lineup. This is an exciting format that takes away a lot of the stress that goes with season-long fantasy leagues.

For those not familiar with DraftKings’ format, you are awarded a total budget of $50,000 to fill a roster of nine players (QB, RB1, RB2, WR1, WR2, TE, FLEX (RB/WR/TE), K and DST). You must pick players from at least two different NFL teams that represent two different games that week. The scoring rules are similar to most PPR scoring leagues, but you can check out the details over at DraftKings for more information there.

Now that we’ve gotten the introductory information out of the way, here’s the most valuable DraftKings lineup for Week 6.

Quarterback

Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs ($7,600)

Smith started out the season very well, and surprised many fantasy owners along the way. He’s currently the 14th best quarterback with 85.8 total points. This week Smith and the 5-0 Chiefs welcome the Oakland Raiders to town, who are ranked second-to-last in pass rush with a -19.8 grade and 28th in pass coverage with a -20.9. With Smith able to spread the ball to multiple targets accurately and efficiently, he’s going to finish the week as a top-10 fantasy quarterback, which makes him a great value as the 13th-most expensive this week.

Running Back

Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs ($9,200)

While Oakland is actually ranked in the top ten in run defense so far this season, Charles is an unstoppable machine. The Raiders have yet to play against such a dynamic playmaker that is a threat on the ground and in the passing game. Charles is currently the top running back in both standard scoring and PPR leagues, and is clearly the focal point of the Chiefs’ offense. Look for Charles to have another big day en route to finishing the week as the top fantasy ‘back once again.

Willis McGahee, Cleveland Browns ($3,300)

McGahee will never, ever be a flashy option, but he’s a workhorse that will definitely get the job done. Last week he was able to bruise his way to 72 rushing yards on 26 carries for 13 fantasy points, which was 11th-best in the league for Week 5. Detroit comes into this game ranked 25th in run defense with a -11.6 grade. There’s no reason to believe McGahee won’t put up nine-plus fantasy points this week.

Wide Receiver

Jordy Nelson, Green Bay Packers ($7,000)

The Baltimore Ravens’ pass coverage is currently ranked 15th with a -5.1 grade and have struggled against elite quarterback play this season. Nelson is currently Aaron Rodgers’ favorite target, the top fantasy receiver on the team and the 11th-best in standard-scoring leagues and is 15th in PPR with 55.1 and 78.1 points, respectively. With so many offensive weapons spreading Baltimore’s secondary thin, look for Nelson to have a big day.

Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis Colts ($6,700)

The San Diego Chargers are currently the third worst pass coverage unit in the league, with an abysmal -26.2 grade and are giving up an average of 28 fantasy points to receivers per game, which is fourth most in the league. Andrew Luck and the Colts are on fire and seem to have put last year’s road woes behind them, which means his favorite target, Wayne, is in for a huge day.

Tight End

Jordan Cameron, Cleveland Browns ($5,800)

Cameron is the third-best tight end in both standard-scoring and PPR leagues and a matchup nightmare for the Lions’ linebackers. Cameron will get a ton of targets between the hashes and eat up yards after the catch, which will likely land him in the top five of fantasy tight ends for the week when the dust has settled.

Flex

Jermichael Finley, Green Bay Packers ($4,200)

Finley has really bounced back from a down year last season, and is currently ranked 17th among tight ends with 6.67 fantasy points-per-game, which makes him a great TE2 and cheap FLEX option here. The Ravens are allowing 9.8 fantasy points-per-game to tight ends this season, which bodes very well for Finley this week.

Kicker

Graham Gano, Carolina Panthers ($3,000)

Cam Newton and the Panthers should have a good game against the Minnesota Vikings defense, which will give Gano plenty of opportunity to rack up points, and he’s at the lowest price for kickers, which makes him a great value.

Defense and Special Teams

New York Jets ($3,000)

Another great value here as the least-expensive defense, the Jets currently boast the 12th-ranked overall defense with a +15.0 grade and are the best run defense in the league with a whopping +43.4 grade. While they are in the negatives for pass rush and coverage, this defense has been good all season and if they can shut down Le’Veon Bell and the running game, the Steelers will have a hard time establishing a effective passing game.
