Top 10 fantasy breakout candidates

Fantasy football championships can be won by finding the right breakout candidates to join forces with your top draft picks and rack up big point totals. Heading into 2015, there are a handful of excellent rookies, sophomores and even third-year players ready to breakout.

These are the top 10 candidates most likely to explode:

1. C.J. Anderson, RB DEN

The former 2013 undrafted free agent was the waiver wire add that tilted fantasy leagues in 2014. Despite starting only eight games, Anderson finished as the RB11 in standard leagues. He compiled 1,173 total yards and 10 touchdowns. He also finished as fantasy football’s top scorer over the final nine weeks of the season, and there is reason to believe he can maintain that pace in 2015.

Anderson forced 59 missed tackles on 213 total touches and he racked up 2.54 yards after contact per attempt. These numbers rank him with the running back elite in PFF’s elusive rating. New Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak brings with him a zone-blocking scheme suited to Anderson’s skill set, and Kubiak has already confirmed that he prefers a workhorse back. Anderson has potential to become this season’s DeMarco Murray.
