Week 2 is in the books and we find out who some of the “players” are this year.
Week 2 was full of hits (Dez Bryant, Marshawn Lynch, Calvin Johnson, Jimmy Graham), misses (Colin Kaepernick, Frank Gore, Reggie Wayne), surprises (Knowshon Moreno, James Starks, Eddie Royal) and injuries (Eddie Lacy, Ray Rice, Andre Johnson).
Another Week shows us why injuries are the rule and durability is the exception to the rule in football. In the Training Table, I will be providing you with recent news and notes as it pertains to injuries all season here at PFF Fantasy.
Arizona Cardinals
Robert Housler — Tight End
Injury Date: August 25, 2013 — Ankle Sprain
Fantasy Prognosis: Housler is still suffering the effects of the high ankle sprain. He has not returned to practice at this point. He is listed as doubtful heading into Week 3 when the Cardinals play the New Orleans Saints.
Larry Fitzgerald — Wide Reciever
Injury Date: September 07, 2013 — Hamstring Strain
Fantasy Prognosis: Fitzgerald caught two passes for 33 yards before leaving the game in the early 4th quarter during the Cardinals Week 2 matchup with the Lions. Fitzgerald said he feels that he is playing at 80 percent. Any wide receiver will struggle with a hamstring strain. Even a minor hamstring strain reduces the chances of gaining separation on routes and can result in aggravation of the injury. Play Fitzgerald with caution as he will be week-to-week and may be taken out of any game if he aggravates the injury.
Atlanta Falcons
Roddy White — Wide Receiver
Injury Date: August 15, 2013 — Ankle Injury
Fantasy Prognosis: White is listed as probable heading into this week. With Julio Jones also dealing with a knee injury this puts some pressure on White to return to the field. White is still dealing with a high ankle sprain. It will take a few more weeks to heal. This is an injury that can be easily aggravated. He is a risk/reward player heading into Week 3.
Asante Samuel — Cornerback
Injury Date: August 26, 2013 — Thigh Injury
Fantasy Prognosis: Samuel left the Week 2 game last week and listed as questionable to play this week against the Dolphins.
