The Training Table – Injury Notes for Week 2

shane-vereenWeek 1 is like Christmas morning for fantasy football owners. An opportunity to compete and put our season long fake GM skills to the test.

Last week was full of fantasy surprises under the tree. Payton Manning wrapped up with a bow of Demaryius Thomas to start off the holiday season. Add a stocking full of AJ Green and Victor Cruz and some traditional fantasy gifts like Reggie Wayne and Anquan Boldin. There were also some terrible gift wrapped surprises in Lamar Miller, David Wilson, and CJ Spiller. If injuries were part of the holiday season they they would be the fruit cake. Leave a terrible taste in your mouth and never want to have that feeling again (see Shane Vereen and Roddy White).

Another Week shows us why injuries are the rule and durability is the exception to the rule in football. In the Training Table, I will be  providing you with recent news and notes as it pertains to injuries all season here at PFF Fantasy.

Arizona Cardinals

Robert Housler — Tight End
Injury Date: August 25, 2013 — Ankle Sprain

Fantasy Prognosis: Housler is stil suffering effects from the high ankle sprain he suffered in the preseason. Jim Dray filled in for the missing Housler and posted some unimpressive numbers in Housler’s absense. Housler is listed as doubtful for Week 2.

Atlanta Falcons

Roddy White — Wide Receiver
Injury Date: August 15, 2013 — Ankle Injury

Fantasy Prognosis: Roddy White fought through a high ankle sprain during Week 1 and explained that he will not be 100 percent for a few more weeks. White admitted he was playing decoy most of the game. White will struggle with this ankle sprain for a few more weeks. If you have another strong wide reciever on the bench I would recommend playing them for the next few weeks while White heals up.

Asante Samuel — Cornerback
Injury Date: August 26, 2013 — Thigh Injury

Fantasy Prognosis: Samuel suffered a thigh injury and is listed as questionable for Week 2.
